The Why

Falls result in more than 2.8 million injuries treated in emergency departments annually, including over 800,000 hospitalizations and more than 27,000 deaths. We decided that action is needed to be taken to prevent these fatal injuries. We wondered if there was a way to save these elderly adults. That is how we came up with HipAirbags.

Elderly Population

In 2015, the the population of people 60 years of age and older in the world was 900 million. In 2050, the population of people aged 60 years and older is expected to reach 2 billion people. It is important that we save these people if we want to continue to flourish as a population.
